The reason that I am writing this faq is just because I feel like it, so leave me alone. -------------------------------------------- | 3.Characters+Skills+Abilities+Gear Options | -------------------------------------------- Submitted fully by Kildread2@hotmail.com 3. Things you probably know - Gears don't level up! (Seems like it to me...) It looks like the Gears are only more powerful when you outfit them with better equipment, they don't seem to be affected by your character's level. - Learning Deathblows early is the way to go! Take some time to always build up your deatblows, even if you cannot learn it at 100%, because you'll learn it automaticly when you reach the required level. Be aware that the deathblow must be at 100% before you learn it, you won't learn it if it isn't, even if you have the required level. - Gear battles don't help learning deathblows! Battling in Gears can't make your characters learn any Deathblows so try to find a place with small enemies only so you don't get surprised with giant enemies when trying to learn Deathblows. - Stop moving when sensing a battle! When a battle sequence is about to start, your Playstation unit may make a little "reading" noise. STOP MOVING! Because you can't jump because of that, but you can still move. So you might find yourself falling before the platform you were supposed to jump on! - You can't get hyper-deathblows until you've got your limiters removed (at Shevat), they only seemed to appear when I got there. If anyone as proof of the contrary, I'll correct this. If I forgot any basic stuff, be sure to e-mail me about it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. Characters section This section will explain all Deathblows and Chi/Ether techniques. Along with a rating on each character fighting ability. It will evolve as I advance in my current game. ************************************************************************ FEI FONG WONG Rating: 8/10, average character, good HP and defense, fair attack numbers and biggest selection of deathblows. It's your main character and he usually is your best one (until Citan gets a sword that is...). CHI ABILITIES : GUIDED SHOT: EP required : 2 Learned at : Begins with it. Graphical representation : Fei concentrates and sends a ball of light on the enemy. Effect : Damages enemy with Chi. He's usually the fastest in the group. When he starts using swords (much later in the game), he his VERY strong. You can use his elemental shields spells on enemies to weaken them agaisnt a certain element to attack them with that element! The screen then switches to a water-effect and bubbles appears around the enemy. ************************************************************************ RICO BANDERAS Rating: 6/10, good HP, great physical defense and attack power, highest in the group. His Ether Defense is extremely low however, so he falls prey to spells pretty easily. He is also very sluggish and takes a while before he can hit. He tends to miss his hits often against many opponents. His spells are rather useless. SPIRIT ABILITIES : STEEL FIST: EP required : 2 Learned at : Begins with it. Graphical representation : Yellow circles descends on Rico and a red light flashes on him. Rico appears to grow in size. After talking to him go outside and explore(See Secrets For all The Items). Then head for the house with the windmill next to it, and go upstairs. Alice will ask you to get Camera equipment from Citan. Approach the ramp leading up, and perform a big jump(Run,Then Press The Jump Button). Make your way through the bridge to Citan's House. There's a Aquasol under the bridge, so pick it up if you want. Fei finally goes berserk and release so much energy that the whole town, along with Alice is destroyed. When Fei he is confronted by the survivors of Lahan, including Dan who hates him for what he did to the city. Citan says its best to leave the town, and head for the town of Dazil, which is on the other side of BlackMoon Forest. At the end of the log jump off until you reach a log with a Hobgob blocking a large rock. Kill this bastard for some good EXP. After he dies the rock will roll down, so get out of the way. The fight is easy as you can kill these guys in one normal attack. After waking up, head south and read the sign. Head southwest to fight another Hobgob. Perform a Jump over the gap to find a Memory Cube, and a treasure chest. Save and cross over the log(Before Crossing, De-Equip Elly's Pilot Uniform which you can sell for 2500G). Also before crossing you might wanna explore and find all the other treasure. Head through the log and fight some enemies. Use Elly's magic and Fei's attacks to defeat them. Citan wants to go to the ethos workshop to find new parts for Fei's Weltall. You can either explore the town, and talk to the people around, or head to the far end of town to the Ethos workshop. Enter the Ethos workshop next to the gear shop with the memory cube. Speak with both dudes inside to learn that they do not have parts for Weltall. While on the Bridge, Citan will inform Fei that parts for Weltall can be found in the desert where there have been many gear battles. Go back to the entrance of the town and enter the Rental Shop, where Citan will rent a Dune Buggy(Cool :) and set out into the desert alone without Fei. Talk to the man in the Rental Shop and then set out for the desert. ------------------- | Across The Desert | ------------------- ------------------------------------------ |Characters-Fei | |Level-9 | |Items-Eyeball | |Enemies-Aveh Soldier,Sand Man,Sand Shark | ------------------------------------------ Fei is alone now so save your game. Then head west into the desert, where you will see two gears jumping in the opposite direction. Follow the gears as closely as possible, and continue in that direction until you see a huge saucer like object above you. After that you will see more gears to chase so follow them, until you see a couple of Soldiers riding motorcycles. Fei will steal one of the soldier's bikes and after riding a while he'll get surrounded by two gears. Citan will arrive in Weltall, and shoot the two gears down. Fei will finally agree to jump into Weltall and fight the two troopers. This is an easy fight so I won't even cover it. Just use your X attacks, and Level 1 combos. After the fight a mysterious man called Grahf will appear and tell Fei that he wants to test Fei's power by summoning a monster ---------------------------------------------------- | Boss Fight-Wyrm | | HP-200 | | EXP-1044 | | Gold-0 | | Treasure-Eyeball | | Attacks-Counter Slurp(Steal 60 Fuel),Normal Attack | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Normal attacks will do 0 damage to him. Remember to use Booster to make yourself faster than | | Wyrm, but watch your fuel because everytime you attack Wyrm will | | suck 60 fuel out of you. | --------------------------------------------------------------------- After you defeat Wyrm Grahf will tell you that he provoked Lahan's destruction to bring out the power of Fei(The power that destoryed the whole village). There is a memory cube here so make sure to save, and then talk to Citan and tell him you want to rest. Meanwhile, A young One-Eyed Pirate is looking for some target practice. The Pirate(Bart) shoots down the Prison Ship just to get the new type of gear on top(Weltall). You gain control of Fei, and Citan and run out the door once it opens. The enemy fights here can be tough as in each fight you'll be hit with an extra 30 or so damage from Engine Room fires so be sure to heal up. For the easiest route out run out the door and then head west, and down the ladder there. You'll be deposited in the Warehouse Area. There is another memory Cube here so save if you want. ------------------------------------------------------------------- | NOTE1:If you are too slow, the rooms will fill up with sand and, | | you will have to start from the beggining. | ------------------------------------------------------------------- From the memory cube turn right, and hug the walls to get to a ladder which you can climb outside. Once outside Citan will go operate the crane while Fei must make it to the Weltall before the ship drowns in the sand. Once Citan navigates the Crane run through it. Don't worry because if you fall Fei will just pull himself up. Once you make it to Weltall Fei will go inside Weltall and get Citan. Make your way to the rock and examine it. Bart and Fei will push the rock out of the way. Walk trough the archway and jump down. Pick up the Gold Nugget in the chest there. Go to the west through another archway into a long hallway. Make your way through it and head over the stone bridge there to reach a gear there. Talk to him and he'll tell you to go south. Head into the stones there and jump down until you reach a memory cube and a hole in the wall. Save and enter the hole. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Note2:The enemies here are pretty easy, and give out good experience | points and gold. The only exception is the MayFly which can lower | your gears defense and do a great amount of damage. I suggest you run | away from the battles against the MayFly. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you enter the hole, you'll meet Ol'ManBal who tells you some fascintaing stories. After all those stories he'll fix up your gears and open up a shop to improve your gears, your first gear shop. Even though you'll probably use most of your money this is needed for the tough boss that is ahead. Now for the Sand Sensors. Sand Sensor#1-Return to where the gear is, and ask him where the Sensors are. Follow the path to the west, and you'll see the sensor there. Jump onto the ledge there and then perform a big jump onto the other ledge. Press X next to it to disengage it. Turn around and jump to the other ledge for a IronGWhip. Equip it on Bart's Gear. Sand Sensor#2-Go back to the terrace stone and jump up heading northwest into the passage there. After going through the long passage, head west to find the Sand Sensor and disengage it. Go back to Ol'ManBal and talk to him. He'll lower the barrier so you can pass. He'll service your gears and he'll discover that Fei's gear is the slayer of God(WOW!). Go past the barrier and head through. Go up until you reach a gondola. Get off your gears(Press L2&R2) and enter the gondola. Leave the gondola and press X next to the power generator to turn the light to green. Go back into the gondola and enter your gears. Walk west and descent on the elevator, then jump over to the other side to save in the memory cube. Walk onto the elevator face the control panel and press X to go down and meet. ----------------------------------- Boss Fight-Calamity | HP-2500 | EXP-8642 | Gold-2000 | Treasure-None | Attack | Missile 500 Damage | FlyingHand 50-200 Damage | ----------------------------------------------------------- Use your X attacks to build up to level 1 combos and then | attack Calamity with your level 1 combos for 200 damage | each hit. Exit the dining hall, and then head east across the cat walk, then go north up the stairs, and go to the doorway to the east to meet Bart and Citan in the planning room. After the meeting, Fei will see some kids ride down the elevator. Head south down the stairs into bart's room. Take the Iron Whip from the treasure chest and try to leave the room, Bart will enter and Fei will hide while Bart looks around and leaves. Leave the room and ride downstairs, where you will meet Bart at the deck of the Yggdrasil. After the conversation go to the elevator and ride it down to the hangar. Go next to Weltall and Obtain Weltall's status from the technician. Then head back up to the residential area which is located north of the elevator when you get off. Talk to the man next to the bed and say "Alright" and then "I'm Okay" to rest. An ALARM wakes Fei in the middle of the night. It seems the Lair is under attack by enemy forces. The gear shops offer nothing new in terms of parts, but there are some new armor for your human characters that you might wanna pick up for your characters. Buy the Armor(Leather Vest,Leather Hat) for Bart, and Fei. The weapons shop has some new weapons for Bart, but I suggest not buying since you will find a better weapon in the Dungeon ahead. Talk to the first lady you meet and she'll recommend a good hotel, the view zooms to the hotel and you should head there. When you get to the Hotel, head upstairs into the far right door, and speak with the nun. After talking to her, head to the woman in white, and blue near the south end of town, and tell her that you will enter the tournament. Then head to the east side of town and check out the underground waterway, you'll learn that a key is needed to open it. Now go speak with the Nun again. Next find the Hide&Seek kid in the northwest part of town, and talk to him to play Hide&Seek where you must find him 4 times to make him change his location leave the town and then re-enter. After you find him all 4 times you will recieve a Hide&Seek badge for all your troubles. He will also speak of the Underground waterway and the Key. Go to South Shakan square where you can buy some trivial items and even get drunk with a Bartweiser Lite. As soon as you enter the town map, you will be introduced to Shakan,Ramsus, and Miang who talk with Marguerite about the Fatima Jasper. Head into the castle where you will learn about the castle being closed, but a tournament is being help. Register with Fei for the tournament and then leave to rejoin Bart. Go back to the old people near the Waterway entrance and select "Rescue Margie" to recieve the waterway key. Once all this is done head back to the Nun and tell her your plan to Rescue Margie. Now you can explore the town fully, and play some of the games in the 2nd part of Bledavik. When you are done head back to the Inn and talk with Citan, choose the option "Rest" to go to sleep. In the morning, Fei+Citan leave for the tournament. Speak with the guard who will let Fei pass into the back. Walk over to the tent in the east and speak with the furious Dan, and then the cloaked stranger. Now you control Bart who will leave for the underground waterway. You can enter the waterway through 2 different paths but this one applies, to the entrance near the gear shop. ---------------- | The Tournament | ---------------- The action will switch between Fei, and Bart after each battle in the Tournament. I won't even write a strategy for wiseman, because you can't beat him and he never attacks --------------------------------- | Directions through the waterway | --------------------------------- At various points during the tournament the scene will switch to Bart. These direction are from entering the grate near the gear shop. Swim straight ahead, and ignore the path to the right. At the fork in the waterway, swim northwest against the current, and follow the path to the intersection.Head north, and follow the waterway as it bends to the northeast, and swim against the current to the next intersection. Turn north, and swim up against the current, until you reach the floodgate. Wait there a few seconds and the floodgate will rise up. These directions do not tell how to get the three treasures in the waterway, a Rosesol S,Aquasol S, and a Gold Nugget. Explore if you really want them.Enter the now risen floodgate to enter Fatima Castle --------------- | Fatima Castle | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Characters-Bart | | Level-24 | | Items-Cobra Cracka,Aquasol S,Rosesol S,Iron Mail | | Enemies-Aveh Guards | --------------------------------------------------- If you have the Metal Vest won from the tournament, the battles here will be alot easier. The Aveh guards you fight in the castle can be defeated with a single deathblow from Bart, but be aware that they do always come in pairs. After entering the castles's southern entrance, go down either of the two staircases and exit north through the wooden double doors to reach the balcony outside. Wind around the passageway to either the east or west and go through the wooden door at the very end. Climn the red carpeted stairway to the third floor. Defeat thw two Aveh guards standing outside of the wooden double door along the long red carpet to the north. Turn east, kill the other guards, and head through the door. Kill the aveh guards standing outside the door at the end of the hallway and enter the room with Margie inside. Talk to her, save your game, and leave the room to meet your enemy. --------------------------------------- | Boss Fight-Ramsus(with Miang) | | Hp-400 | | Exp-7000 | | Gold-500 | | Attacks-Mirror Stance,Sword Thrusts | | Treasure-Nil | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Miang heals Ramsus for 40hp each turn, and Margie can heal Bart | | for about 20-40 hp each turn, although Margie seems to miss | | more often. If you want you should also get at least 25000G before heading into Nisan. Nisan is north where the little lone tree resides in the desert. Buy the best equipment for Fei with the rest of the money, as you'll soon be entering a dungeon with only Fei as your character. When you're ready to progress the storyline then go down the steps t the lower level of Nisan and meet up with Margie. Talk to the man blockeing the archway to the north and he will move aside. Follow that path onto the town map and head into the Cathedral. Inside Margie will give you a tour of the Cathedral. After the entire tour is done, its time to head back to Nisan's main entrance. Speak to maison in front of the building that you have been given for saving Margie. Enter that building to find Sigurd. You will be given a choice to ask four questions. Ask each one of the questions once to find out about Sigurd's and Citan's past, and more about Solaris. After regaining control of Fei head to the bridge overlooking the town and speak with Bart about his problems. After all this, it's time to return to the Assembly hall, and find out what your next mission is..Citan will compose a very hard to understand plan to defeat the Gebler forces, and put Bart back into the throne. Fei will be chosen to head of alone on a mission. When your regain control of Citan in the Gun shop of the Yggdrasil, speak with Maison and head to the ladder outside the bridge to see Fei and four other gears leaving for their missions --------------- | Mountain Cave | --------------- -------------------------------------------------- | Characters-Fei | | Level-26 | | Items(Outside Cave)-Extra Ar+2,Magnetic Coat | | (Inside Cave)-Rosesol S,Gold Nugget | | Enemies-Edelweiss,May Fly,Medusoid,Nomad Fix Bot | -------------------------------------------------- There is a gear shop near the end but it has the exact same items as the gear shop in Nisan, so as long as you updated your gear parts there, all you will need to do there is restore your Hp, and fuel. Your jumping skills are key here, and combined with the constant enemy encounters, it can get very annoying. When you feel a battle coming on, you can hear it when the Cd skips a little, make sure to stop so you accidentally don't mess up a jump and fall to the bottom of the cave. From the beginning of the dungeon, you will head northeast to the tall stone next to a narrow path. Jump onto this stone, and then onto the path there to and enter the cave opening. There are two treasures on the outside of the cave, and both are pretty useful so get them and equip them before the boss fight. Inside the cave, hug the wall and work your way up the ledge steps. Climb up to the top step and make a Big Jump onto the ledge to the east, make sure to rotate the camera to see where to place the jump. Ascend to the east and pick up the Treasure chest there. The constant enemy fights should have raised your levels by a little. The nomad fix bot will heal you alot so don't kill it so quickly. Its best to run away from the May Fly since it can deal huge amounts of damage onto you. Walk along the samell ledge to the north, and jump across the ledge to the west. Hop up to the ledge and pick up the Gold Nugget there. Climb the last ledge, and make the tough jump onto the other side of the ledge. Head up to more ledges to the Repair Bot, and the Memory Cube. DO NOT pick the Can't trust you option or you will be attacked by the Repair Bot. Once you defeat it then it will disapear forever. Restore your fuel, and Hp and save before heading out the cave. Before heading out of the cave make sure to check Fei's equipment ----------- | Frame | - - - - - - | WELT-3000 | ----------- | Engine | - - - - - - | Z9-1500 | ----------- | Armor | - - - - - - | MS 9 | ----------- ----------- | Parts | - - - - - - - - | Magnetic Coat | | Extra Ar+2 | --------------- Now head out of the cave after healing, and saving to meet an old friend. You must now fight a series of several battles which can be quite hard. You will not be able to heal between battles, and since you don't have any Healing, it can be quite hard. ----------------------------- | Boss Fight 1-Wandknight(2) | | Hp-620 | | Exp-1500 | | Gold-200 | | Treasure-None | ----------------------------- | Attacks | ----------------------------- | Power Beam(100-300) | | Rifle(20-150) | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | The Magnetic Coat that you have equipped will reduce their | | power beam attack from dealing 300+ damage to about 50-100 | | damage. Build up your Attack level to level 2 with X button | | attacks on one of the knights, which should bring him close | | to death if not kill him outright, and then unleash your | | attack level 1 combos on the other one to make this a quick | | fight without suffering so much damage in the process. | ------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- | Boss Fight 2-Clawknight(Yellow),Swordknight(Red),Aegisknight(Blue) | | Hp-700,1500,300 | | Exp-800,1500,300 | | Gold-300,300,300 | | Treasure-Extra Ar+2 | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | Attacks | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | Pile Driver(Armor Down) | | Sword Attacks(50-300) | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Three on one can be tough but if you make sure to concentrate on | | one of the enemies at a time then it won't be so difficult. Use 2 X | | Attacks on the Aegisknight to kill him and build up your attack | | level to level 2. Follow that with 2 attack level one combos on the | | red knight, because it does so much damage to Weltall. After that | | use an X attack on the enemy that is still alive, and use an Attack | | level 1 combo on the last remaining guy to pretty much finish of | | the battle. If any enemy is still standing then kill it with an | | attack level 1 combo. | --------------------------------------------------------------------- Then after the battle, the stupid elly takes some drive and attacks Fei.Hopefully Fei still has about 1500+Hp left, and at least 700 fuel or so will do for this battle. --------------------------------- | Boss Fight 3-Elly's gear Vierge | | Hp-2400 | | Exp-11,046 | | Gold-300 | | Treasure-None | --------------------------------- | Attacks | --------------------------------- | Rod Attacks(50-200) | | Aerods(250-400) | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | You will see various story sequences throughout the battle. The | | battle itself is not really hard. Use X attacks on Elly, and use | | your level one Combos on her to destroy her quickly. Her Hp is | | not really that high, and her attacks don't do too much damage, | | so with the right level one combos, you should kick her stupid | | drug taking ass back into her regular self. | ------------------------------------------------------------------- After the battle, Fei will grab Elly and knock some sense back into her, and Elly flies away with her Group. Fei will be brought back into the Cave. Heal up, and save with the repair bot, and then hop up the two ledges to the east, and head west over the chasm. Continue jumping up the ledges to reach the cave's exit. The scene will switch to Fatima castle with Bart trying to pull off his plan, but getting suprised by the enemy. While things are looking grim, Maison comes in, and saves the young prince with that huge spider thingy. ------------- | The Desert! | ------------- ------------------------------------------- | Characters-Fei | | Level-30 | | Items-None | | Enemies-Sand Tripper,Sand Tropper,Trooper | ------------------------------------------- You must now guide Fei through the desert after the jumps off the cliffs to the desert floor. Don't worry about the land mines, and enemy gun shots as they only deal 1 to 3 damage. Keep heading west, and trying to avoid as many enemy encounters as possible. Another story scene will happen, and you will have to destroy the big gun. ----------------------------- | Boss Fight-Main Gun | | Hp-1800 | | Exp-7000 | | Gold-0 | | Treasure-None | ----------------------------- | Attacks | ----------------------------- | Big Cannonball attack(400) | | Gun shots(10-80) | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | You have five turns to destroy the gun before it uses its Big | | cannoball attack which can leave Fei hurting. Use 2 X attacks | | to build up your attack level, and then unleash your level 1 | | attack combos on it to quickly destroy the gun. | ----------------------------------------------------------------- The madman goes crazy, and asks for the help of Grahf before attacking you. ----------------------- | Boss Fight-Dora | | Hp-3000 | | Exp-13,393 | | Gold-2000 | | Treasure-Extra Ar+3 | ----------------------- | Attacks | ----------------------- | Claw Attack(100-300) | | Ally Smash(50-400) | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | Fei gets help from 2 ally gears that cannot even damage Dora | | until his shield is broken by Fei, but at least they take away | | from the damage that Fei recieves. Dora can be a pain, because | | his attacks can do so much damage, and Fei still can't heal. He | | can pick up one, or both of your allies and smash them into Fei | | for 100-400 damage. Have Fei use X attacks to build up your attack | | level to level 2, and then unleash your attack level one combos | | to hopefully destroy his shield after a couple of turns. After his | | shield is broken, then your allies will be able to do damage with | | their X attacks to damage Dora. Continue beating him up until he | | is defeated to recieve the huge amount of Experience that he drops | --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Yggdrasil is in trouble as they are surrounded by Ramsus' gear, and under severe attack. Suddenly a huge gear appears, and cuts off Ramsus' arm(Good riddance), and then attack Bart doing 19,998 damage to Bart. The Yggdrasil is going down. Citan ejects.
